We begin with the ever increasing popular wire binding followed by spiral coil binding which is rapidly taking over from plastic comb binding then finally the old faithful plastic comb binding systems.

Wire Binding

Often referred to as double loop wire or Wire-O binding this style has rapidly become "the new black" due to its aesthetic appeal and practical ability to turn a full rotation and lay flat as needed.

Wire binding machines which have punch cancellation functionality are capable of disengaging individual punches.

Here are some examples of an artistic way for your presentations to impress.

The most common reason to use the facility of punch cancellatoin is to enable a wide range of paper sizes to be bound without a half punch resulting at the bottom edge of the pages.

Spiral Coil

Often referred to as coil or spiral binding is a very practical style of binding. The PVC coil is wound through a series of closely spaced small holes. Being a very durable form of binding it is perfect for documents which are handled roughly or used frequently such as trainng manuals, educational aids, menus, maps and the like.

Spiral coils allow the document to be turned back to back and lay flat. The coils are crush resistant and come in a range of colours.

Coils are threaded through a series of small holes. Different machine models have the facility of electric coil insert whilst more basic machines require the coil to be wound on by hand.

Spiral coil binding has taken on great popularity in the USA and is now becoming the preferred choice over plastic comb binding in Australia.

The reason for its increased popularity is that documents look more professional than comb and the coil will not squash. Documents can also turn a full rotation and lay flat for ease of reading.

Plastic Comb

This style of binding is still widely used in offices today. 

Although the document will not lay perfectly flat or turn a full rotation it is possible to add or extract pages as required and bind much thicker documents than other binding methods.

This tried and true style of binding has the advantage of having the capacity to bind very thick documents.

Plastic comb binding is still the most frequently used style of binding for internal documents or where there is a need to bind very thick documents. The binding combs are relatively inexpensive and can be re-opened when required.
